
Human Trafficking
*Human trafficking, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, is illegal transport of a person for the purpose of sexual exploitation or forced labor. Coercion, threats, and exploitation are used to enslave victims.
*In 2017 there were just under 100 reported human trafficking incidents in the State of Arizona according to the FBI Unified Crime Report 2017.
*The Human Trafficking Hotline received 179 phone calls from Arizona between Jan-June 2018. With over 2,400 calls for Arizona over the last ten years.
*The International Labour Organization identifies that 75% of victims are women and children.
* Over 5 people for every 1,000 are victims of human trafficking (ILO.org) and results in $150 Billion generated from forced labor.
